Justice LEE Sang-hoon’s retirement ceremony was held on February 27, 2017.
Prior to his appointment as Supreme Court Justice on February 28, 2011, Justice Lee served as a judge in the Eastern Branch of Seoul District Court, Daegu High Court, Seoul High Court and many other courts across Korea, as a professor of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, as a chief judge of Jeju District Court and Incheon District Court, and as Vice Minister of National Court Administration.
Justice Lee delivered a retirement speech before Chief Justice Yang, twelve justices, members of the Judiciary and his family and conveyed his message that, “As the Judiciary’s core mission is to guarantee the fundamental rights of citizens through appropriate judicial controls, judges must make endless contemplations on how we can to fulfill that mission.”
