Judicial Exchanges
2026 Korea-China Judicial Seminar

The 7th Korea-China Judicial Seminar was held at the Supreme Court from June 23 to June 26, 2026. Initiated in 2006, the seminar serves as a platform for sharing judicial information and discussing current legal issues, alternating between Korea and China. After being suspended in 2017, the event resumed in Korea after a nine-year hiatus.

The Chinese delegation, consisting of six members, was led by Deputy Chief Judge Wang Haifeng of the Fourth Civil Division of the Supreme People’s Court (Senior Judge); Presiding Judge Ran Rong of the Second Criminal Division of the Supreme People’s Court (Senior Judge); Presiding Judge Huang Xiwu of the Fourth Civil Division of the Supreme People’s Court (Senior Judge); Director Wu Haiyuan from the Division of Judicial Assistance, International Cooperation Bureau, Director Zhang Xi of the Division of Digital Court Planning and Guidance, Trial Management Office; and Deputy Director Shi Jianhu of the Litigation Service Center Construction and Guidance, Case Filing Division. The Korean delegation was led by Jang Jiyong, Director General for International Affairs.

During the seminar, both delegations engaged in lively discussions across three sessions: Session 1 on Court technology, including AI and online courts, Session 2 on International Commercial and Maritime Adjudication, and Session 3 on Judicial Assistance (including e-service and cross-border online witness hearings), providing an excellent opportunity to share and compare judicial information between the two nations.

Building upon the successful hosting of the 2026 seminar, the two judiciaries plan to further expand bilateral exchanges, including the normalization of the regular seminar framework.
