Chief Justice KIM Myeongsu held a virtual meeting with Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon of Singapore on October 19, 2020.

It was the first virtual meeting between Chief Justices for the Korean judiciary. Such meeting was arranged to replace a visit by Chief Justice Menon to Korea to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Chief Justice Kim and Chief Justice Menon shared their views that advanced court IT of Korea and Singapore made it possible for both countries to overcome challenges such as Covid-19 and judiciaries of the two countries to respond properly. They exchanged their ideas on ways to further cooperate to more actively harness court IT.

Also, on the occasion of the virtual meeting, the two Supreme courts signed the MOU for judicial cooperation to lay the institutional ground to continue judicial exchanges and cooperation.

Although their in-person meeting could not be realized due to the Covid-19, Chief Justice Kim expressed his pleasure of meeting Chief Justice Menon through this new way of meeting and said he hopes to expand the scope of substantive judicial cooperation based on friendly relationship between the two Supreme Courts.
