▣ Supreme Court Library (President: Hur, Boo-yeal) published the 15th volume of the Collection of Supreme Court Decisions in English.
▣ As part of projects to promote the judicial system of the Republic of Korea and its legal culture to other jurisdictions and to better facilitate judicial exchanges with foreign judicial institutions, universities, etc. through exchange of materials, the Supreme Court Library has been publishing major Supreme Court judgments and decisions in English since 2004.
▣ The 15th volume of the Collection of Supreme Court Decisions in English published this year contains 85 cases out of all Supreme Court judgments and decisions rendered in 2018, divided into categories of cases such as civil, criminal, administrative, taxation, and intellectual property.
▣ Decisions included the Collection of Supreme Court Decisions in English can be viewed on the English website of the Supreme Court Library. They can also be searched on website of the foreign legal research services.
▣ However, Supreme Court en banc judgment 2013Da61381 rendered on October 30, 2018 (so called ‘Japan forced labor case’) will be included in the 16th volume of the Collection of Supreme Court Decisions in English which will be published in 2020 (The judgment of the English translation of the above case can be currently viewed on the English website of the Supreme Court Library and the Supreme Court of Korea).
▣ The Supreme Court Library expects the Collection of Supreme Court Decisions in English will serve as a useful material for legal professionals at home and abroad for their research on the Korean Law and help general public understand the judicial system of Korea and its legal culture. |
