On April 28, 2025, the Korean judiciary established the Judicial Artificial Intelligence Committee. This advisory body will assist the Minister of the National Court Administration in driving innovation in court proceedings and operations through the use of AI technologies. A preparatory meeting for the committee's launch was held on March 25, 2025.

As judiciaries worldwide increasingly seek to implement AI-driven court systems, it is essential for the Korean judiciary to respond proactively. This will help maintain its leadership in judicial informatization and prevent it from falling behind in terms of judicial efficiency, transparency, and access to justice. To effectively integrate AI into the judiciary, the committee will act as a central control tower, consisting of both internal and external experts from relevant fields.

The Judicial Artificial Intelligence Committee will guide the direction of AI adoption within the judiciary, review ongoing AI development projects and roadmaps, and play a critical role in verifying and evaluating these development projects.
