Korean Court’s Day Ceremony Held

In celebration of the 11th anniversary of Korean Court’s Day, the Supreme Court of Korea held a ceremony on September 23, 2025, in the main hall of the Supreme Court building. The event was also livestreamed via the Supreme Court of Korea’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@scourtkorea).

Since September 13 was designated in 2015 as a day to commemorate the Korean courts, the judiciary has used the occasion each year to reflect on the importance of judicial independence and the role of the courts, and reaffirm the role of judges.

The ceremony for Korean Courts Day this year featured a range of attendees, including members of the media's legal teams, judges, and court officials. The event commenced with the national anthem, followed by presentations of recognitions. Next, the Chief Justice delivered a commemorative address, which was followed by a screening of a commemorative video and a celebratory performance by the DONO Choir from the Bucheon Branch of the Incheon District Court.

The recipients of the Chief Justice’s recognition were as follows: the late Judge Park Se-jin, former Presiding Judge who contributed to the development of the Korean judiciary and the enhancement of legal culture, Mr. Lee Bok-seong, Deputy Director of the Suwon Bankruptcy Court, Mr. Kim Seong-gyu, Court’s Assistant Junior Official of the Seoul Western District Court, Mr. Kim Jae-ro, Assistant Junior Official for Registration of the Daejeon District Court, Mr. IM Yoon-taek, Security Clerk of the Seoul Northern District Court, and Mr. CHOI Byung-jin, Public Service Officer of the Pohang Branch of the Daegu District Court..
