TITLE Korea¡¯s Judiciary Pushes for AI-Powered Search Tool for Public Case Access An AI-driven platform enabling the public to easily locate lower court rulings

¢Ã Currently, most court rulings that are required to be disclosed by law are accessible through the ‘Internet Case Law Browsing’ service on the Judicial Information Disclosure Portal. However, unless users input precise legal keywords, finding the relevant rulings they need can be difficult under the current system.

¢Ã To address this, the judiciary is pursuing the development of an ‘Intelligent Case Law Search System.’ The platform utilizes AI to analyze the intent behind natural language queries. Once a user asks for a ruling in plain language, the system identifies their intent and locates the relevant case law. The judiciary has requested budget allocations for an Information Strategy Planning (ISP) phase this year. If the budget is secured, the project will move forward with the ISP process in 2027, which will serve as the roadmap for the subsequent system development and launch.

¢Ã The judiciary is actively advancing the intelligent search system to enhance access to justice, ensuring that those without specialized legal knowledge can easily locate the rulings they need.
