- In response to COVID-19 crisis, online birth registration service is made available to maternity clinics.-

¢Ã National Court Administration of the Supreme Court extends the online birth registration to more medical institutions on March 20, 2020.
¢Ã The online birth registration service which allows parents to register their child’s birth online without traveling to community service centers or relevant offices was launched on May 8, 2018. However, medical institutions that can participate in the online birth registration service were confined to hospitals only. However, with the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, cases where babies were born at home with help of a midwife increased. Therefore, public’s demand that the maternity clinics be included as medical institutions to allow its access to the untact online birth registration service increased.
¢Ã The National Court Administration of the Supreme Court urgently added 14 medical institutions that can participate in the online birth registration service including maternity clinics with cooperation of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, apart from the application period (1. April 24, 2020/ 2. October 30, 2020) already announced for medical institutions to apply for the online birth registration service.
¢Ã Institutions that will be included to have access to the online birth registration service will be 8 maternity clinics including Momsbebe Natural Birth Center and 6 hospitals including Ilsan Cha hospital. A total of 121 medical institutions can now access the online birth registration service.
¢Ã The online birth registration service can be provided by accessing the Electronic Family Relations Registration System of the Supreme Court website (http://efamily.scourt.go.kr). The website also provides the list of medical institutions that can use the online birth registration service.
¢Ã Starting from March 20, anyone who uses maternity clinics can easily register a child’s birth through the Electronic Family Relations Registration System of the Supreme Court website (http://efamily.scourt.go.kr).
