¡Ü Activities
 - The Special Committee for Improvement of Final Appeal System (Chaired by Professor LEE Heon-hwan of Ajou University, former President of Korean Public Law Association) established under the Advisory Council for Judicial Administration held four meetings between January 17, 2020 and April 20, 2020 to discuss ideal ways to improve final appeal system and to gather extensive opinions from the general citizens and professionals.
 - While the Committee reached consensus that the current final appeal system needs improvement in order to ensure its full functionality, the members also agreed that more thorough fact-finding proceedings at lower courts is a prerequisite in the current discussion for improved final appeal system.
 - With regard to the improvement measures, the Committee discussed and examined the following issues:
i) The essential functions of the final appeal;
ii) Whether the final appeal cases should be selectively accepted;
iii) The best methodologies to hear final appeal cases;
iv) Granting leave to appeals;
v) Organizational division of the Supreme Court;
vi) Establishment of final appeal panel at high courts; etc.
 - In consideration of the importance of gathering opinions extensively from the general citizens and legal professionals, the Committee discussed on creating the methods to hear various opinions from different groups.
¡Ü Future Plans
 - While continuing in-depth discussions on various methods to improve final appeal system, the Committee will carry out expert seminars, survey for legal service users and legal professionals, policy discussion with the citizens, etc. to discover the most appropriate improvement measure for final appeal system and report the details to the Advisory Council for Judicial Administration.
