On July 2, 2024, The Honorable Chief Justice JO Hee-de received a courtesy visit from the newly appointed H.E. Ambassador Jorge Enrique Valerio Hernández of Costa Rica to the Republic of Korea.

During the meeting, Chief Justice Jo and Ambassador Valerio Hernández discussed the judicial systems of Korea and Costa Rica and the two countries' overall social structures. They exchanged views on the importance of public trust in the judiciary for sustaining democratic values, freedom, and human rights, which are shared by both Korea and Costa Rica. They also acknowledged the connections between the two judiciaries. The meeting was attended by Presiding Judge JEONG Yun-hyung, Chief Secretary to the Chief Justice, and Dr. KIM Eunsil, Director of International Affairs.
