-The Supreme Court en banc bench broadcast live the open pleading of the case on restricting operating hours of the nation's large retailers-

• The Supreme Court en banc bench(Presiding Judge, Chief Justice YANG Sung-tae) conducted an open pleading with a live-broadcast of the case on restricting operating hours of the super supermarkets(SSMs) on September 18, 2015 at 14:00 in the Supreme Court Grand Courtroom.

• In the open pleading, fierce arguments were presented between the legal counsel of Plaintiff who claimed the regulation which restricts business hours and designates a date for compulsory closedown of SSMs is illegal and the legal counsel of Defendant who argued for legality of the above regulation. Professor AHN Seung-ho of Soongsil University College of Business Administration, an expert witness for Plaintiff and RHO Hwang-bong, Director of Research Office of Small Enterprise and Market Service, an expert witness for Defendant each presented opinions on the contentious issues of the case.

• The Supreme Court open pleading was broadcast live on the Internet through the Supreme Court website and the search portal Naver, and on the cable TV through the KTV.

• The Supreme Court expects the live broadcast of the entire process of the open pleading will not only seek fair and transparent resolve of the case on restricting operating hours of the SSMs, but present an opportunity to deepen public understanding on trials and secure public trust as well.

• Live broadcast of trials of appropriate cases will continue to be conducted from now on.
