¡á Sejong City nominated for the Second IT Center location
The IT Center in the Patent Court is currently under substandard conditions for an internet data center to meet the countermeasure requirements against power interruption, fire, security, etc. despite its importance as a national facility.  In addition, the judiciary aims to level the saturation of ever-increasing volume of data and be prepared for the possible disasters and accidents to provide safer judicial information services.  To address these issues, the Judiciary plans to establish second Supreme Court IT Center.
After making on-site screening across the country for the optimal data center location, Areum-dong in Sejong Metropolitan Autonomous City (“Sejong City”) was selected as the location of new center for its optimal geographical conditions with high scores in the criteria of natural disaster, security, construction conditions, effective transfer of data resources and efficient manpower supply.

¡á Allocation of KRW 33.2M on the new IT Center to be in operation by year 2020
The Judiciary secured the construction budget from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance with the plan to complete the design by 2017, begin construction in 2018 and to start its operation in 2020.
The Second IT Center will be seated over 5,745m2 of site area with 8,161m2 of total floor area as a three-level building.  The building will be equipped with uninterrupted power supply (UPS), temperature and humidity controls, physical security environment, energy efficiency facilities, automated and integrated management system along with other equipment for the installation and operation of the most optimal information system as well as to satisfy the international standard for data center facility.

¡á Expected results
Establishment of the Second IT Center will enhance the disaster recovery system and stability of the IT operation.  Mutual back-up system with the existing Supreme Court IT Center in Bundang City will ensure uninterrupted workflow caused by potential disasters or accidents and minimize judicial service interruption.  The new IT Center will provide the most optimal environment as an infrastructure for the stability and operational efficiency of data resources, as well as to address the continuous rise in the volume of data.
The new IT Center plans to be in nonstop operation and management to provide stable service for the public.  There will be real-time monitoring and analysis on the information system operation conditions and other systemic operation statuses.  The Center will be access-controlled, monitored around the clock and have sufficient security staff to establish a comprehensive security defense system that safely protects personal information and other important data from various cyber threats.
