TITLE Chief Justice Makes First Official Visit Abroad

Chief Justice JO Hee-de attended the 19th Conference of Chief Justices of Asia and the Pacific, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 11 to 13. The meeting provided an opportunity for discussion with Chief Justices and representatives from various countries in the Asia and the Pacific region.



Chief Justice Jo served as the moderator for Session 2 on judicial well-being, leading discussions on the well-being of judges and strategies for attracting capable candidates to the judiciary. His participation allowed him to share the Korean judiciary's commitment to the rule of law and its judicial achievements with other nations in the region. At the closing ceremony, Chief Justice Jo announced that the 20th Conference of Chief Justices of Asia and the Pacific will be held in Seoul, Korea, in 2026. 


 

Chief Justice Jo officially visited Australia after the conference from October 15 to 18. During this visit, he met with Chief Justices and representatives of the Supreme Court of Victoria, the High Court of Australia, the National Judicial College of Australia (NJCA), the Australian National University Law School, and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.



His visit to the High Court of Australia further strengthened judicial exchanges between Korea and Australia by facilitating the exchange of experiences and insights on various topics, including efficient trial procedures, judicial information technology, and integrating artificial intelligence into the judicial system.
